I was commissioned by The Walters Art Museum to create the title wall for "Pearls on a String: Artists, Patrons, and Poets at the Great Islamic Courts" in collaboration with curator Amy Landau. Our goal was to design a piece that would actively engage the audience while embodying self-expression. To achieve this, I opted for an interactive approach and decided to center the artwork around mirrors. By using mirrors, the audience becomes an integral part of the piece as they are reflected in it. To further enhance the Persian title, I spray-painted Farsi words that evoke deep emotions such as compassion, love, fear, envy, life, and death. The final result was a visually compelling installation that provided a unique and immersive experience, perfectly aligned with the exhibition's theme.
